A photographer recently shared some images from his Aerial Views Fish Farms project and the results are unusually alluring.

Bernhard Lang captures aerial views of human processes, from mining to agriculture to shipping. A new project he began this year showcases the shapes of aquaculture from above. The squares, ovals, and circles of fish farming, set within the deep blue of the ocean, are mesmerizing from a bird’s eye view.

Lang’s photographs show the human dimension of fish farming, rather than the fish themselves, and depict the important message of feeding a growing population. Is this what protein of the future look like? These photos were taken from helicopter over Greece.
